Are you looking for a way to make a real impact in La Porte County? Do you want to develop new skills, meet amazing people, and create positive change in your community? Look no further than Homeward Bound Villages, an active affordable housing nonprofit in La Porte County!

 Why Volunteer with With Us?

We know that people are busy, and time is one resource that is not renewable. Where you spend your time matters, so rather than focus on what you can do for our organization and community, we wanted to share what we can give you in exchange for your time and expertise.

At Homeward Bound Villages, we’re not just building houses – we’re building futures, strengthening communities, and changing lives. And we need YOUR help to make it happen.

Here’s why volunteering with us is the best decision you’ll make this year:

1. Make a Tangible, Generational, and Positive Impact: Every hour you spend with us directly contributes to providing safe, affordable housing for people in need. You’ll see the results of your work in the smiles of those we help and the transformation of our community. You will know that you have played a role in ensuring that your neighborhood and fellow community members are living in affordable housing, allowing them to focus on financial stability, building support networks, and being able to enjoy life to the fullest. You! will have played a part in changing someone’s life.

2. Develop New Skills: Whether you’re helping in the construction planning, working on data gathering, or spreading the word about our mission, you’ll gain valuable skills that can boost your personal and professional life. When you volunteer in your community, these activities set you apart when applying for jobs or higher education. Growing your skillset is never a missed opportunity.

3. Expand Your Network: Meet like-minded individuals who share your passion for community service. Our volunteers and staff come from all walks of life, creating a diverse and vibrant community of changemakers. Just like our communities, building a network and support system through shared values and experiences is impactful and can have a far more significant impact in all aspects of our lives.

4. Boost Your Mental Health: Ask yourself when was the last time you did something nice for someone else? When you remember that memory, ask yourself how it feels to help your fellow man. We are going to bet that helping someone else most likely made you feel pretty good. Studies show that volunteering reduces stress, combats depression, and increases overall life satisfaction. Give back and feel great doing it!

5. Be Part of Something Bigger: Join a movement that’s transforming La Porte County, one home at a time. The secret is out: La Porte County is the place to be; with all of the new industry and building set to begin, our area is growing massively. Play a part in ensuring our county grows in a mindful manner and with access to affordable housing for those already here and those who want to be a part of our community. Your contribution, no matter how small, is a crucial part of our mission.
