Our Villages

Our Work

Homeward Bound’s mission is to create forever affordable, cooperative, and sustainable communities in La Porte County, Indiana. We complete this mission by building affordable housing and cooperative communities that thrive. Through our cooperative model, residents have a committed and vocal stake in our communities.

Our first project, Karwick Village in Michigan City, is expected to break ground on construction in early 2025.

Karwick Village

Specifically chosen along Karwick Road in Michigan City, our first development will feature 12 forever affordable units built to create and sustain a community of up to 24 residents. Located along a  Michigan City city bus route, with shopping, schools, and recreation nearby, Karwick Village will be the first cooperative village of its kind built in La Porte County.
