The Assistant Director of Programs, Communications and Development is a key organizational role that will work in collaboration with Homeward Bound leadership to carry out our mission and strategic objectives to Create Community Through Affordable Housing

Assistant Director of Programs, Communications and Development Position

Key Responsibilities

Shape a Cooperative That Truly Serves its Community

Work closely with Homeward Bound’s leadership to craft essential co-op documents, establish inclusive resident selection processes, and shape the foundation for Karwick Village. You’ll play a key role in selecting and supporting residents, guiding the initial co-op board, and empowering committees. Your efforts will foster a supportive environment, helping resolve issues, maintain important records, connect residents with resources, and ensure smooth operations. Plus, you’ll develop a centralized, user-friendly system to keep everything accessible.

Build Awareness and Strengthen Community Connections

Enhance Homeward Bound’s visibility and community relations through presentations, donor acknowledgments, and support for digital content. Contribute to newsletters, website updates, social media, and respond to inquiries to increase awareness. Assist with organizing fundraising events and digital campaigns, while maintaining data on the fundraising platform.

Provide Program and Volunteer Leadership for Impactful Community Engagement

Lead and oversee Homeward Bound’s programs, events, and volunteer initiatives. You will recruit and manage volunteers, ensure policy compliance, coordinate volunteer events, and maintain essential data reporting.

Board Collaboration and Strategic Support

Be at the heart of Homeward Bound Villages’ strategic impact! Work closely with our Board of Directors by delivering monthly reports that highlight program success, attend meetings to provide essential updates, and actively shape our future through strategic planning sessions. Your contributions will directly support informed, mission-driven decision-making and help set the course for transformative community impact.

Optimize Technology and Workspace for Impact

You’ll coordinate and optimize office space and technology use, handle software licensing renewals, and set up new team members on Microsoft 365, ensuring our tools and spaces empower us to make a difference every day. This is your chance to keep our operations seamless and future-ready!

Qualifications & Skills

We are seeking a detail-oriented leader with strong communication and interpersonal skills to improve program efficiencies, collaborate across teams, and foster community relationships. Ideal candidates bring transferable project or program management experience, problem-solving abilities, and critical thinking to support organizational growth. They should be organized, tech-savvy, able to evaluate and achieve goals, and capable of independent work.  Ideal candidates are comfortable presenting to groups and work well independently, bringing a compassionate, respectful approach to supporting our diverse resident community.
